Data visualization of Canada's 57 active and long-term drinking water advisories as of December 2019. This number fluctuates often, and as of 2024, we are still at 31, with a majority affecting First Nations communities. Each ring represents a community with inadequate access to clean drinking water; clear rings represent “boil water” advisories, while opaque rings represent “do not consume” advisories. These advisories often necessitate buying bottled water.
